National Speleotherapy Hospital
The National Speleotherapy Hospital is located in the town of Soligorsk, 129 km from Minsk. Thousands of people are treated here. Respiratory diseases are treated using the natural properties of underground spaces.
The National Speleotherapy Hospital of Belarus stands on the edge of Soligorsk, in a pine forest right on the shore of the reservoir. It has a truly unique underground department that treats respiratory diseases with speleotherapy at a depth of more than four hundred metres. The underground department is located in a still-working mine of the Belaruskali company. Patients go down accompanied by a doctor, nurses and a mining foreman. Speleotherapy sessions are held both in the daytime and in the evening. A daytime session lasts four to five hours, and an evening or night session eleven to twelve hours.
The hospital was founded in 1997 and has 250 beds. Check-in is from noon, and check-out is by noon on the last day of the voucher. Treatment is available for children aged six and over. The hospital is guarded by the security service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
