Tyzenhauz Folwark in Karolino
Over the last decade, holidays at agro-estates, and Belarusian estates in particular, have become more and more popular. No wonder: many people want to touch history and experience how our ancestors lived long ago. Agro-estates let you step into the past, because their owners create all the conditions for it: they think through the details of everyday life and preserve the cultural heritage of the place, and with it the history of the country itself.
The Tyzenhauz Folwark in Karolino is a striking example of how careful treatment of historical heritage can be combined with comfortable conditions for a pleasant and educational stay. Located on the bank of the Tatarka River near Lake Yubileinoye, not far from Grodno, the Karolino estate has a rich history.
Back in the 15th century these lands belonged to Tatar families who had received privileges from the kings of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. The next owner was the famous Prince Mikhail Glinsky, and the present agro-estate takes its name from Count Antoni Tyzenhauz, who did a great deal for the flourishing of these places. The picturesque palace and park complex was created on his initiative, designed by the royal court architect Giuseppe Józef de Sacco.
As often happens, by the early 20th century the estate had fallen into decline through neglect, but in 2003 dedicated enthusiasts began restoring it, and now the Tyzenhauz Folwark warmly welcomes guests and offers an extraordinary holiday.
Guests can stay in 5 houses that meet modern standards while preserving historical details:
- The Wooden Cottage;
- The Family Nest;
- The Green Cottage;
- The Hexagon House;
- The Oaks complex.
Home-cooked food prepared by the hostess is served in the wine cellars, the small hall or the throne hall. You can enjoy a horse ride or take riding lessons at the estate's stable yard. A special feature of the estate is a working chapel where weddings and christenings are held. The estate also has everything needed for hunting and fishing.
