Dukora Manor (Dukorsky Maentak)

There are not many places left on Earth where you can dive headlong into a fascinating past and feel part of the mysterious world of our ancestors. Belarusian estates are filled with the spirit of folk history and culture, closely intertwined and carefully preserved by enthusiasts and caring people. One of these places is the Dukorsky Maentak agro-estate, not far from Minsk, the capital of Belarus.

Immersion in a historical atmosphere is one of the few "miracles" the hosts promise their guests. It is known that in ancient times there was a pagan sanctuary for ritual ceremonies on the site of today's estate. In the 15th century a manor was built here, and over the years it changed hands many times.

The owners of Dukora village included members of noble families of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and later the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth: the Kezgailos, the Szemiots, the Zawiszas and the Ogińskis. Incidentally, the last owner of the estate from the Ogiński family, Michał Kazimierz, was the uncle of the composer Michał Kleofas Ogiński, author of the famous "Ogiński Polonaise" ("Farewell to the Homeland").

The manor house has not survived in its original form, but the traditional interior of the gentry has been fully recreated. Dukorsky Maentak has 4 workshops ("maisternia" in Belarusian):

• The weaving workshop;

• The smithy;

• The wax candle workshop;

• The potter's house.

In each workshop you can not only watch the craftsmen at work but also try your own hand and buy a souvenir. Dukorsky Maentak also has a unique distillery where samogon is made to its own recipe.

Children will enjoy the estate too: there is a batleika theatre (a traditional Belarusian puppet show), a rope park, a petting corner and parks. A special attraction is the upside-down house, where you can walk around and see the world "upside down".

Visitors stay in 5 guest houses decorated in different styles, from 17th-century interiors to modern ones. In the estate's tavern you can taste folk dishes and celebrate special occasions.
